My name is Mohamed Irhuma. I am a consultant, fellow specialist clinical pharmacologist (ABCP/AMA) with extensive experience in academia, research, and medical education.

A Professor of Clinical Pharmacology & Digital Health Leader with 10+ years of experience bridging clinical governance and health-tech. Expert in translating complex clinical algorithms into deployable HTML/AI-driven digital tools. Led scientific governance and clinical content strategy for a digital health platform.

I currently hold the position of Specialist Clinical Pharmacologist and the Clinical Scientific Governance Lead at EMGuidance, where I oversee all clinical, medicines and academy information, digital prescription, clinical governance, and AI-powered drug interaction algorithms = they call me THE HUMAN-IN-THE-AI-LOOP.

Additionally, I am an honorary lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), and previously served as the secretary general of the College of Clinical Pharmacologists at the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA). I combined deep pharmacological expertise with cutting-edge Health Informatics. A celebrated educator ranked in the top 10% of university lecturers (Wits Academic Survey Reports: 2016-2020).

Who am I, also? An honorary senate member, a registered physician, and a professor accredited by the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology (ABCP). Additionally, a member, examiner, and expert with the American College of Clinical Pharmacology (ACCP). More healthy ego? I am also an active educator and researcher; I collaborated with the European Institute of Innovation & Technology in Health (EiT Health), 

I am also a former co-editor of the South African Medicines Formulary (SAMF) - the 11th, 12th, and 13th editions (2016-2020), and a recognised expert in rational prescribing, drug interactions, and the application of AI in healthcare.

With nearly two decades of experience in medical education and clinical research, I have had the privilege to play a key role in developing training programmes in basic and clinical pharmacology, evidence-based medicine, and rational prescribing across more than eight institutions worldwide.

My humble expertise extends to digital health, neuro- and psychopharmacology, rational prescribing, medicolegal medicine, pharmacovigilance, healthcare economics and general medicine, where I worked to enhance course materials and promote innovative approaches to integrating new knowledge in medical training.
